Bidders line up in Changi T3 children’s tender

The children’s toys and games tender at Singapore Changi airport has attracted eight bidders

Vendermac has tabled the highest bid for the children’s concession at Singapore Changi airport terminal three. Two locations are available in the north departure/transit lounge on a three-year contract with no option to extend. Vendermac has promised to pay the airport either 20% of total monthly sales or a monthly guarantee of S$20,500 ($13,398) for one of the shops, and 20% of sales or S$33,000 ($21,568) for the other location.

 

Lian Tong & Co has bid for the second location only, tabling an offer of 15% of monthly sales up to S$180,000 ($117,647) and 20% thereafter, or S$28,000 ($18,300) for monthly sales above S$180,000 and S$35,000 ($22,875) for sales above that amount, whichever is higher.

 

Girdano Originals is bidding for the first location, offering either 15% of monthly sales or S$28,000 ($18,300) per month.

 

Times Newslink is the only other retailer besides Vendermac bidding for both locations. It has offered 13.8% of monthly sales up to S$150,000 ($98,039) and 20% thereafter or S$12,500 ($8,169) in rent for the first year, S$13,000 ($8,496) for the second and S$13,500 ($8,823) for the third year.

 

For the second store it has promised to pay the airport 9% of monthly sales up to S$225,000 ($147,058) and 20% of sales above that or a monthly guarantee of S$13,000 for sales below S$225,000 ($147,058) and S$20,000 ($13,071) for sales above that amount, depending on which is higher.

 

Jay Gee Enterprises tabled an offer for the first store of 17% of monthly sales or a monthly rent of S$17,000 ($11,111).

 

FCI Retail Concepts said that it would pay either 10% of monthly sales or S$15,000 ($9,803) per month in rent for the first store, whichever is higher.

 

DFS Venture Singapore offered 15% of monthly sales or S$11,800 ($7,712) for the first store, while Fox Fashion Apparel tabled the lowest bid of 3.5% of monthly sales or S$3,000 ($1,960) per month in rent for the same premises.

 

The tenancy will begin in January or February 2008 or when operations at the terminal begin, depending on which is later.
