Bernasconi takes new role at Nuance

The CEO of the retailer's European division becomes executive vice-president business development and strategic marketing

The Nuance Group has appointed Carlo Bernasconi to the new post of executive vice-president business development and strategic marketing. Until now the CEO of the retailer's European division, Bernasconi will continue to run Nuance's business in the region until a successor is found.

In his new role Bernasconi will oversee corporate business development, strategic marketing and communications, global airport relations and global category management.

Nuance president and CEO Roberto Graziani said: "Carlo Bernasconi brings a wealth of experience and a truly global network to this position. We are happy to be able to capitalise on his strengths that will benefit our organisation both in the short and the long term."

Bernasconi joined Nuance in 1999 as buying and merchandising director for Europe South, later becoming managing director for the sub-region before being named CEO of Nuance's merged operations in Europe.
