President Alexander Lukashenko has ordered further detail to be added to draft legislation on duty-free shops

Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko has ordered his government to remove ambiguities from a draft presidential ordinance legislating for duty-free shops in the county, according to local reports.

A source close to the government told Russian news agency Prime-Tass that president Lukashenko ordered officials to add more detail to the document and remove ambiguities. The president will now decide on the location of duty-free shops and how they will operate.

As previously reported on RavenFox.com (September 20), the State Customs Committee drafted the legislation after all duty-free stores in Belarus were closed on July 1. The outlets at Minsk airport have reopened, but all other shops remained closed.

“The ordinance must contain the list of shops and their locations” the source said.
