The tri-national airport has issued a consultation document asking for retail concepts for 1,500sq m of additional space

Basel-Mulhouse airport is seeking retail tenants for several outlets in the French and Swiss areas of the terminal, both landside and airside. The airport authority has issued a consultation document for stores of various sizes, totalling 1,500sq m (16,140sq ft), and has set a deadline for submissions of August 31.

Commercial director Werner Parini told RavenFox.com that the airport is open to ideas, either duty-free or duty-paid, and said he hoped to have made decisions on the new tenants by mid-September.

The new space is in addition to the outlets already operated by Dufry Group, and Parini reported that the retailer is likely to renovate its main duty-free store over the coming months. "They still have a few years left of their concession," he said, "so they are looking to invest in the stores now while they have that strong contract base."
