Aer Rianta International is among retailers offered space at Grantley Adams International airport
Grantley Adams International airport authority has issued letters inviting selected retailers to negotiate contracts for stores at the location. Aer Rianta International (ARI) director-general Eamon Foley confirmed that his company was among those invited, and said it was entering negotiations for several of the 16 shops available.
Grantley Adams commercial director Kay Richardson told DFNI that the authority had offered selected retailers space at the terminal, and that it was waiting to hear their responses before proceeding. The airport hopes to have more details within a week, she said.
The tender process at the airport was delayed several times during the year, and the decision to invite retailers to negotiate comes five months after the bidding deadline passed on May 3. However, the airport is under pressure to fit out the stores and lease the space so negotiations may take less time.
ARI is understood to have bid for the core categories in partnership with Caribbean Airways. Other retailers known to be interested in space at the terminal are Duty Free Caribbean—the joint venture between local retailer Cave Shepherd and Dufry Group—and Motta Internacional.
