Fairn & Swanson retail division Baja Duty Free is planning its sixth shop along the US/Mexico border. The new 6,500sq ft (600sq m) store is scheduled to open in Brownsville, Texas this summer. The store will offer liquor, beer, tobacco, fragrances and accessories.

At present Fairn & Swanson operates four stores along the California?Mexico border and one store in Eagle Pass, Texas. "The latest addition to the Baja family is in a strategic location," said retail vice-president Elisa Castro. "We see considerable growth potential for us in this market." Fairn & Swanson said the new store was just the beginning of its plans to develop its border business in the region.

In other news, South Seas Distribution, the South-Pacific arm of Fairn & Swanson, has been named the exclusive distributor of Anheuser-Busch products in several South Pacific islands.
