Fairn & Swanson retail division Baja Duty Free is planning its sixth shop along the US/Mexico border. The new 6,500sq ft (600sq m) store is scheduled to open in Brownsville, Texas this summer. The store will offer liquor, beer, tobacco, fragrances and accessories.At present Fairn & Swanson operates four stores along the California?Mexico border and one store in Eagle Pass, Texas. "The latest addition to the Baja family is in a strategic location," said retail vice-president Elisa Castro. "We see considerable growth potential for us in this market." Fairn & Swanson said the new store was just the beginning of its plans to develop its border business in the region.
In other news, South Seas Distribution, the South-Pacific arm of Fairn & Swanson, has been named the exclusive distributor of Anheuser-Busch products in several South Pacific islands.
