The liquor supplier has named Gary Chau as replacement for Ylva Persson, who joined William Grant & Sons as global director of travel-retail and duty-free earlier this year
Bacardi Global Brands has appointed Gary Chau as its new travel-retail marketing director, effective from July 1.
Chau has worked for Bacardi since 2003, most recently as global brand manager for Bombay Sapphire gin. He replaces Ylva Persson, who left the company in March to join William Grant & Sons.
Chau will report to newly appointed Bacardi Global Brands managing director Maurice Doyle. His marketing team will include marketing manager Charlotte Horn, brand manager Parmjeet Bahia and business development manager Gordon Buchanan, who are all based in the UK, as well as Paris-based marketing manager Valerie Choung.
Commenting on Chau's appointment, Doyle said: "I am extremely pleased that Gary will be joining our team. He is an excellent marketer of luxury brands and a great team player. His appointment further strengthens the Bacardi travel-retail team and demonstrates our increasing commitment to building our brands in this channel."
Bacardi's brand portfolio includes Bacardi rum, Bombay Sapphire gin, Grey Goose vodka and Dewar's whisky.
Editor's note: Gary Chau is unconnected to the Tasa Meng Corp general manager of the same name
