ASUR and Aldeasa have reached an agreement over the new Cancun terminal while extending their cooperation at T2 and other Mexican airports

Mexican airport group ASUR has appointed Spanish retailer Aldeasa to operate the duty-free concession at Cancun’s new terminal three. The deal is part of an agreement to extend the retailer’s contract at Cancun T2, Cozumel airport and Merida airport for 10 years.

The contact extension will come into effect once T3 opens, planned for the second half of 2007, and will allow Aldeasa to plan a new commercial offer for the terminal’s predominantly American and European passenger profile. The offer will include a 1,850sq m departures store

ASUR COO Manuel Gutierrez told RavenFox.com: “We are very satisfied with the new agreement – we have been very pleased with the way Aldeasa has operated in T2 and they are the ideal company to operate in T3. This will allow both companies to give the best commercial offer to the airport users.”

Aldeasa international director Daniel Montero added: “Mexico is a very important market for our international business and this new agreement with ASUR means that we will be able to consolidate the business we have built up over the last few years. The new agreement is great news but the extension of our current agreement for Terminal 2, Cozumel and Merida is also exciting as we can now plan ahead and further invest over the next few years. Overall this is very good news for us and a sign of our solid and fruitful relationship with our airport landlord:”
