Beijing Capital International airport is reducing prices on 8,600 items sold in terminals one and two by up to 40%

Beijing Capital International airport is reducing the price of several products sold in terminals one and two in response to concerns that its retail offer is overpriced. According to reports in the Chinese press the airport will cut the prices of about 8,600 products by up to 40% by the end of the month.

The company has already cut the prices of more than 100 liquor, tobacco, fashion, toys and cosmetics goods since September 16, with the immediate result of increasing the number of people shopping at the airport by 6%, a spokesman told local reporters.

The company aims to reduce prices on all goods to high-street levels, and will also monitor the prices of products sold in T3, where retail will be operated by the Gabico joint venture when it opens next month.
