BAA to open Rejuve spa at Heathrow T1
Travellers will be able to relax and work out at the Rejuve well-being centre in Heathrow terminal one Mezzanine level airside from May
Airports group BAA has previewed its new well-being concept Rejuve, which it will install at Heathrow terminal one's mezzanine level airside in May. The 4,500sq ft (418sq m) outlet will feature a health food snack bar—with bespoke products and clearly defined nutritional guidelines—and a retail area, which will sell travel goods and Jurlique spa products.
In the fitness zone visitors will have access to seven pieces of equipment including the new Technogym cardio-wave machine. The barber's shop will be operated by London barber Geo F Trumper and will offer haircuts, wet shaves and manicures.
Eight treatment pods will offer a range of Jurlique-based services lasting from15 to 75 minutes. Treatments will include facials, pedicures, manicures and massages, although Rejuve general manager Daniel Charles emphasised that "it's not just about pampering, it's about tailoring the treatments to meet your requirements".
The centre will also feature a wet room, described by Charles as a "relaxation haven" containing a shower, sink and grooming products. "We know as a traveller you are going to have your ups and downs and we want to make the experience as pleasant as possible," explained Charles.
Other Rejuve facilities will include a bookshop and an "innovation pod", which can be used for different functions. "We can change the content of this room each month, which gives us a lot of flexibility," said Charles. "It could be used for light therapy, as an oxygen bar or even to view a sporting event."
Charles confirmed that the concept's owners are already in talks with airports worldwide to roll out the concept and said it could be suitable for other Heathrow terminals, airside and landside.
Entry to the centre will be available at a day rate of £25 ($44) and membership deals will range from £250 ($440) to £2,500 ($4,400), but the rates also incorporate discounts on services.
Charles said the outlet will incorporate a "simple, sleek design" to enhance its status as a "five-star facility". The concept will be supported by a website which Charles anticipated will evolve to offer treatment bookings online.
