A new Shopping Collection Service at Southampton airport completes the introduction of the facility at all BAA's seven UK airports.

The free service allows travellers to buy as much as they like, then leave it secure at the airport for collection on their return. To use the service customers simply ask in store when they make their purchase. The initiative has already proved popular at BAA's other airports particularly with regular business travellers purchasing heavy, fragile or bulky items.

BAA said the scheme is unique in Europe and is believed to be the only such multi-airport scheme in the world. BAA retail director UK airports, Colin Hargrave commented: "Shopping Collection is a significant and innovative enhancement to the service we offer our customers and has been warmly welcomed."
