UK airports operator BAA announced this week it has invited Internet company lastminute.com to install four online kiosks at London Heathrow airport terminals 1 and 3. The booths will provide flight, package holiday, hotel, restaurant, theatre, gift and entertainment booking services for passengers.

Co-founder and ceo of lastminute.com, Brent Hoberman, commented: "Heathrow is
a large marketplace for car rental, accommodation and ticketing businesses. Strategically located, the lastminute.com kiosks leverage digital technology to bring extra convenience to people on the move."

Providing secure transaction facilities, the kiosks fit with lastminute.com's strategy of being accessible anywhere, anytime and on any device. In addition to the presence provided by the kiosks, lastminute.com is highly visible at Heathrow with promotional signs and branded trolleys. A fifth kiosk will be located in the BHS department store in London's Oxford Street.

  • BAA took a 5% stake in lastminute.com at the time of its flotation in February 2000.
