BAA averts Christmas strike

12-Dec-2002

After protracted overnight talks, BAA has reached agreement with unions over a pay dispute and averted possible strike action over the Christmas period

Firefighters and security workers were among the groups threatening action in a series of one-day strikes during December and early January.

BAA deputy chief executive Mike Clasper said: "Our primary objective in coming to the talks today was to ensure travel over Christmas was not disrupted. We've agreed and signed a pay offer [of] under 8% over two years."
