Members of the airline’s Miles & More programme will be able to earn miles when shopping at BAA airports
Airports company BAA and German airline Lufthansa have signed a new cooperation agreement whereby members of the Miles & More frequent flyer programme will have the opportunity to earn miles when they shop at BAA airports in the UK. From December 1, BAA WorldPoints will be exchangeable for Miles & More award miles, and from early 2010 Miles & More members will be able to redeem miles for WorldPoints airport shopping vouchers, which can be spent at shops, bars and restaurants at BAA airports.
BAA commercial director John Holland-Kaye said: “Our cooperation with Lufthansa Miles & More not only gives our WorldPoints members the chance to redeem their points for miles for flights on a further nine airlines, but also offers Miles & More members even more rewarding airport shopping. This is the first time airline loyalty programme members have been able to redeem their miles for airport shopping vouchers. We’re delighted to be a part of this great new way of rewarding passengers travelling through our airports.”
Miles & More International managing director Carsten Schaeffer added: “To maintain our position as one of the leading frequent flyer programmes, offering our members the most extensive range of opportunities to collect and redeem miles, we are continually seeking ways to further expand the Miles & More product portfolio. Since we have a loyal and demanding UK customer base as well as extensive traffic from this region, the partnership with WorldPoints is the perfect enhancement of our Lufthansa activities in Great Britain.”
