BAA October traffic grows 5.2%

The group's UK airports were boosted by growth on scheduled European and long-haul routes

BAA's seven UK airports handled a total of 12.5m passengers in October, an increase of 5.2% over the same month last year. Southampton passenger traffic grew 16.6%, taking it to over 1.5m for the last year. London Gatwick, Stansted and Glasgow airports rose around 8%, while at Heathrow numbers rose 2.1%.

European scheduled traffic increased 6.8% while North Atlantic traffic rose 5.0% and other long haul routes grew 9.8%. Domestic traffic was 2.4% higher than in October 2003, while European charter traffic dropped 0.3%.
