Several national and local retail brands join the line up at the new terminal at Baltimore-Washington, where BAA Maryland holds the retail management concession
BAA Maryland has introduced 20 new retail and catering concepts to Baltimore-Washington International airport just over a year after winning the retail management contract at the airport. The new tenants joined the retail line-up at the recent opening of the new terminal A/B.
The opening is just the first part of BAA's initial two-year plan, which encompasses approximately 140,000sq ft (13,011sq m) of new and refurbished concession space. At the new terminal, retailers include Bon Voyage luggage, Borders Booksellers, Celebrate Maryland souvenirs, Fire and Ice jewellers, Godiva Chocolatier, Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Hudson News, News Connection and Sunglasses Hut/Watch Station.
The food and beverage offer features Au Bon Pain, Auntie Anne's Hand-Rolled Soft Pretzels, California Tortilla, Charlie Chiang's KWAI, Church's Chicken, Mamma Ilardo's pizza, Obrycki's seafood restaurant, Phillips Famous Seafood, Quiznos Sub and Villa Pizza.
"We are delighted to be a part of this historical opening," said BAA USA vice-president and regional director Mark Knight. "Our goal is to provide the highest quality travel experience at our airports. The key to accomplishing this is to lease space to a well-defined mix of retailers, food purveyors and service providers that bring high levels of service. While national brands are the most recognisable to those who reside outside the region, we believe a successful airport retail programme should incorporate local brands, touting the best offerings of the Baltimore-Washington region."
BAA Maryland is a subsidiary of BAA USA, which manages all operations at Indianapolis International airport and is the master developer and manager of the retail, food and beverage operations at Pittsburgh International airport's Airmall and at Boston Logan International airport Terminals B and D/E.
