Domestic passenger traffic drives steady growth at Auckland airport in August

Auckland International airport welcomed 2.7% more passengers in August 2005 than in the same month last year.

Domestic traffic showed strong growth in August, rising by 5.8% to 388,110 passengers. International arrivals were up by 3% to 232,204, while international departures rose marginally by 0.3% to 243,952. Total international passenger numbers increased by 1.6% to 476,156.

According to the airport, low-cost carrier Polynesia Blue will begin a new service between Auckland and Samoa at the end of October.
