The airport will spend NZ$17m on a new shopping complex joining its two domestic terminals

Auckland International airport has revealed plans to build a shopping complex between its two domestic terminals. The company has budgeted NZ$17m ($12.1m) for the project, which will involve widening the corridor that already links the terminals in order to accommodate retail outlets.

The move is in line with the airport's strategy of increasing its non-aeronautical revenues in the face of slowing passenger growth forecasts. The airport is also attempting to boost revenue by adding car parking space at the Air New Zealand terminal with a four-storey car park with capacity for 850 vehicles.

The company also recently opened two new arrivals duty-free outlets in its international baggage reclaim area.
