Retail makes a strong contribution to growth in business
Aéroports de Paris (AdP) has reported a steep rise of 9% in revenues for the first half of 2007 to 1.08bn ($1.48bn), highlighting the dynamic contribution of travel-retail to the increase. The growth in revenues was more than double that of passenger traffic (4.4%) in the same period.
Revenue from airport services rose by 5.4% to 872.3m ($1.2bn) due to a boost in retail revenues, increased traffic and higher airport fees. Commercial revenues improved by 5.6% to 107m ($146m) and duty-free shops reported thriving business, with revenues up 7.5% in the first half of 2007 compared to the previous year.
AdP chairman and CEO Pierre Graff said: "The strong revenue growth in the first half of 2007 is further proof of our quality assets, which enables us to attract traffic growth. This performance also confirms the pertinence of our retail strategy, thanks notably to the extremely dynamic business of Société de Distribution Aéroportuaire [ADPs joint venture with French travel retailer Aelia]."
In 2006, AdP had revenues of 2.07bn ($2.83) and handled 82.5 million passengers.
