American Airlines has appointed Lauri Curtis to the position of vice-president flight services as part of a series of top-level changes. Curtis, formerly vice-president reservations, will take control of inflight duty-free as well as food and beverages, and will oversee the carrier's 19,000-plus flight attendants. In her 25 years at the company she has served in management positions within human resources and passenger sales.
Curtis is replaced as vice-president reservations by Bella Goren, previously vice-president customer services planning.
Commenting on the appointments, American Airlines president and ceo Gerard Asprey said: ?We have been diligent in trimming our officer ranks since September 11 2001. However, each of the new officers will help fill a void that we simply must fill if we're to successfully tackle the challenges that lie ahead. Our ability to have such tremendous talent in-house - ready to assume critical leadership roles - says a lot about the depth, strength and fortitude of our management team."
