Alpha Group is to open two Glorious Britain stores at London Heathrow terminal five on March 27, when the new terminal opens for passengers. The stores, which are located landside and airside, will stock a range of gifts including T5 key rings, memorabilia with The Beatles’ logo and a range of Robin Ruth products such as beanie hats, canvas bags and umbrellas. Plasma screens featuring various interactive life-size characters including a Royal Footman, Court Jester and Shakespearian Bard will entertain passengers and highlight products available at the stores.
The outlet in the new departure lounge will have a full size 1989 Racing Green Mini with the Union Jack-designed roof on the shop floor. It will also offer a gift-finding facility where recipient details, such as age, gender, likes and dislikes, can be entered via an interactive touch screen, which will then display gift suggestions. Both stores incorporate energy-efficient electrical equipment, environmentally friendly materials and timber flooring from sustainable woodlands. They will also use carrier bags manufactured in the UK from 70% recycled materials and promote the “Re-use, Recycle” message as part of the overall design.
Glorious Britain strategic marketing controller Ben Deller said: “We are delighted with our two new Glorious Britain store designs in this very British terminal. They feature everything that is memorable and exciting about Britain and we feel we have the perfect selection of products for the wide range of customers travelling through the terminal and looking for gifts and souvenirs. It is great that Alpha is able to bring some unique innovations to a 21st century terminal with many exciting developments.”
