The retailer is to adapt its successful Glorious Britain concept to convey a strong Scottish flavour

Alpha Retail is to open a new gift store at Glasgow Prestwick airport next month. The concept has yet to be finalised but Alpha Airports Group CEO Kevin Abbott said the company would adapt its successful Glorious Britain fascia for the Scottish market.

The opening is not part of the current tender for retail space at Prestwick, which is run by New Zealand-based airports group Infratil. As revealed in DFNI October 1, out shortly, the airport has registered interest from 10 companies bidding to take over retail at Prestwick, where up to now the airport has run commercial operations itself. Alpha is likely to bid for the space, and may face competition from Aelia and The Nuance Group.
