Alpha to honour retail heroes
Alpha Retail introduces an innovative award scheme celebrating the achievements of its employees
Alpha Retail has announced details of its new employee awards scheme, Alpha Heroes. Intended to honour the cream of the company's employees, the awards will be presented at a ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham on March 29 next year.
The awards are open to all Alpha's 1600 employees, both customer-facing and behind the scenes, at its retail and catering operations. The company operates 90 airport stores and catering outlets throughout the UK and Ireland. 350 finalists will be selected from the entries received, with 151 winners receiving awards.
Travel Retail Training managing director Christine Martin will assist with the running of the scheme, which is part of Alpha's core competencies programme. She said: "We have tried to make this event as inclusive as possible. It does not matter what the job title is, the length of service, or position in the company. Our research leads us to believe that there will be a high level of participations."
Alpha Retail managing director David King added: "There can be few more customer-facing businesses than retail and catering, and Alpha prides itself in being airport experts in both. The quality of our staff at every level, and the service that they give to customers is central to our business. Alpha's Heroes recognises the hard work that we put in to make this company a success, and thanks those who go the extra mile with a prestigious award. The response from the industry so far has been very positive and we hope this awards scheme will become an annual event."
