Alpha Retail has opened a specialist store at the UK's Newcastle airport, focusing on gifting for the Christmas season

The 300sq m (3,228sq ft) store focuses on fashion, accessories, children's gifts, electronics and gourmet food. Brands featured include fashion marques Animal and Billabong, plus jewellery brands Fossil, Diesel and Storm.

Alpha head of specialities Keran Fordham said: "Alpha has rethought its specialities areas so that it now has the same visual impact as our fragrances and cosmetics offer. We made the decision, where appropriate, to lessen the emphasis on some categories in order to concentrate on doing others with authority. This as enabled us to offer airports a portfolio of products that sit together cohesively, linked by their status as desirable lifestyle goods."
