Alpha adopts new management structure
Alpha Airports Group ceo Kevin Abbott has hailed a reorganisation of the company's Flight Services business and senior management team as a move from ?having customers to working with partners?. Abbott has taken on additional responsibility for the Alpha Flight Services catering business in Europe, with former Flight Services head Robert Stephenson being made redundant. Alpha Retail managing director David King will oversee all Alpha's airport retail businesses in addition to its inflight arm Alpha Inflight Retail. Current inflight director Paul Possamai will continue to run the business and will report to King, an Alpha spokesman told TRW.
"We are restructuring to bring Flight Services in line with the culture we have created in our airport retail business over the past two years," Abbott told TRW. "Since then we have been operating as one company with two businesses: the Flight Services operation in a more ?old fashioned? structure, and Airport Retail's more open and collaborative approach, both internally and with our customers.
?Our airport partners have felt the benefits of going through that change, and from informal meetings and extensive customer research we have established that our airline partners are understanding and supportive of the need for change. The process is really about changing them from customers into partners.?
