As reported exclusively in TRW's sister publication Duty-Free News International in January, liquor supplier Allied Domecq has completed a shake-up of its duty-free operation in the Americas region. With effect from March 5, the company's North American subsidiary Alexander Dun & Sons will become known as Allied Domecq Duty Free Americas (ADDFA), in a bid to provide "a consistent management approach" to the duty-free channel.

The change of name follows the appointment of Mike Holden as head of Allied's duty-free operation in the Americas. A veteran of the duty-free liquor industry, Holden was previously president of UDV Americas Global Duty Free and will oversee a renewed focus on Allied's core brands in the region, including Canadian Club whisky and Kahlua liqueur. Holden commented: "In announcing these very important changes, Allied Domecq Duty Free is reaffirming its commitment to utilising best practice across the various duty-free regions."

In addition to Holden's appointment, Mike Cekay is to join ADDFA as trade marketing manager, while Paulo Puig will be responsible for markets in South America. ADDFA will continue to operate from its existing offices in New Jersey and Miami.
