Algeria is new target for Weitnauer's North Africa expansion

Weitnauer Group, in a joint venture with an Algerian partner, is
opening five shops totalling 180sq m (1,937sq ft) at the airport of
Oran and one shop totalling 50sq m (538sqft) at the airport of
Tlemcen. The first openings take place in Oran tomorrow (17 May)
and the other shops will follow by the end of June. Weitnauer will
be the exclusive duty-free retailer in both airports for departure
and arrival passengers and will offer a wide range of international
and destination products.
COO of Weitnauer's operations in the region Michel Stopnicer said:
"We have decided to invest in this market in spite of the political
problems which often dominate the headlines. We believe that
travel-retail has a bright future in this country".
