Alfa Group and Aeroflot to form Sheremetyevo plan

4-Jun-2004

Alfa must join forces with Russian state-owned carrier Aeroflot to discuss plans for the airport before its management bid is approved

The Russian transport ministry will wait until Alfa-Sheremetyevo has produced its plan for Sheremetyevo airport before deciding whether or not to approve the bid, according to Russian news agency Prime-TASS.

Minister Sergei Levitin has given the company, which was the winning bidder in the airport's privatisation process, two weeks to outline its proposals for developing the facility. Russian airline Aeroflot, which plans to build a third terminal at Sheremetyevo, and Alfa Group are to discuss the creation of a single company to manage the airport, following Aeroflot's announcement in January that it could consider withdrawing from the airport.

Levitin said their concept is to contain a three-year plan of developing the airport's two existing terminals and the construction of the third terminal.
