The retailer has reopened its stores in Cancún and Cozumel following closures caused by last year's Hurricane Wilma

Aldeasa has said its business in Mexico is returning to normal after Hurricane Wilma forced the company to temporarily close its three shops in Cancun and Cozumel. Now reopened, the stores are said to have recovered to the sales levels posted before last October's hurricane, with Aldeasa's airport stores in Cancun showing an especially strong recovery.

Aldeasa insisted it had made no staff cuts during the enforced closure and said employees were compensated for time taken as holiday leave. The retailer also set up a scheme to help its workers obtain advance payments and access to loans.

Aldeasa has thanked airport operator ASUR for its efforts in reopening the region's airports and enabling concessionaires and retailers to resume normal service.
