Aldeasa on shortlist for Nuance

Aldeasa is among the short-listed companies bidding to acquire The Nuance Group, reports from Spain said today. The Spanish business website Expansión Directo suggests that Aldeasa has several advantages that would enable a smooth takeover, including the operator's financial strength, its knowledge of the airport retail sector and its positive nine-month results for 2001, revealed on TRW last week.

As reported in the November 15 issue of Duty-Free News International, out now, Nuance has reiterated that its sale should be completed by the end of this month. DFNI understands a shortlist of bidders has been drawn up, most of them financial investment companies, although DFS Group is understood to have made it through to the final bidding. Former BAA Group retail director Barry Gibson is thought to be advising private equity company Legal & General Ventures in its bid for Nuance.
