Aldeasa extends at Madeira airport
Aldeasa international business director Julio Lopez expects significant sales increases from upgrades to follow its contract extension to late 2009
Aldeasa has extended its travel-retail concession at Madeira International airport for a further five years until October 31 2009. The company has been operating in Madeira since October 1998 and the current contract was due to lapse at the end of June, following an extension last year.
Aldeasa will press ahead with expansion and renovation plans, increasing available retail space from 170sq m (1,830sq ft) to 350sq m (3,766sq ft). The operator has also reached agreement with airport authority ANAM to place one of its mobile "Buy-Bye" sales units in the arrivals hall at the airport. In October 2002, ANAM completed a major renovation programme at the airport, investing more than Eu550m ($663m) in new terminal buildings and an upgraded runway.
Aldeasa international business director Julio Lopez told TRW: ?This new contract extension indicates the solid working relationship we enjoy with the airport operator ANAM. We will now be able to make additional investment in developing the available retail space in Madeira to offer even better service to passengers and airport users. We will be extending the range of products sold and would expect significant sales increases once renovation is completed.?Related Stories
