The innovative anti-theft trolley has cut shrinkage by 73% on Air France flights

The International Flight Catering Association (IFCA) has awarded Aeroboutique Inflight Retail's Safe Trolley the Mercury Award at its annual ceremony. The trolley, which has reduced shrinkage on Air France flights by over 70% since its introduction in September 2004, features a strengthened structure and an electronic chip to detect and register any theft.

The device also includes radio markers located at key points on the trolley's route to enable airlines to locate areas prone to theft. Aeroboutique, a subsidiary of French travel retailer Aelia, said that it now plans to market the Safe Trolley to all airlines.

The award was presented during IFCA's annual conference in Copenhagen on March 11.
