Aelia has won its first duty-free concession outside France after securing the contract to run retail at Belfast International airport. RavenFox.com understands the operator is to open a 5,000sq ft (465sq m) general duty-free store on November 1, displacing current incumbent The Nuance Group.

The move is part of Aelia's stated ambition to grow its international store portfolio, and marks its first step beyond France since ownerHachette Distribution Services merged Duty Free Associates and Aeroboutique to form the Aelia group in 2001.

Belfast International is investing in a programme of investment that will include several new outlets, including retail and catering.
