The ferry operator is hoping an unusual retail offer will offset the loss of duty-free after Poland joins the European Union

German ferry operator Adler Schiffe is to replace duty-free goods with traditional Polish products onboard its ships when Poland joins the EU on May 1. The company, which operates routes in the Baltic Sea between Germany and the north-western Polish province of Zachodniopomorskie, said it would offer Polish goods in which German passengers are interested, including dairy and meat products, sweets and cigarettes.
