Abu Dhabi Duty Free's new Bin Sina pharmacy has enjoyed impressive growth since opening late last year

Abu Dhabi Duty Free has reported average monthly sales increases of 63% at its new pharmacy, which it opened in partnership with Bin Sina Pharmaceutical Group at Abu Dhabi airport late last year (DFNI December 1 2004). Average spend per head at the 25sq m (269sq ft) store has reached $20, which the operator said "exceeded all expectations".

Abu Dhabi & Al Ain Catering and Duty Free managing director Mohamed Mounib said: "We saw a need for such a facility for international customers. With support from the Ministry of Health, we reached an agreement to work with Bin Sina. We are delighted with the results to date, and that we have once again provided a first within our retail environment for our customers."

The Bin Sina store offers prescription medicines as well as toiletries, cosmetics, vitamins and health products, and is open 24 hours a day.
