The Middle Eastern operator has posted promising growth so far this year

Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) has reported total revenue for the first quarter of 2005 of Dh82.75m, an 8% increase on the previous year.

Spend per head has also increased from $36 to $40.18, representing a rise of 11.64%. This figure excludes the retailer's popular raffle programme.

Categories driving ADDF's performance were liquor and tobacco, where sales were up by 21.5%, confectionery (up by 19.6%), beauty (13.6%), gold (10.4%) and electronics (10.2%).

ADDF managing director Mohamed Mounib said: "Our focus is on offering real value for money linked to aggressive promotional campaigns that are aimed at not only meeting our customer's expectations but driving our business to all parties' mutual benefit."

The most encouraging spend came from passengers flying with Gulf Air, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, Oman Air and Saudi Airlines.
