The retailer’s “exceptionally strong growth” over 2007 made it a clear winner of Mars’ GCC Retailer of the Year award

Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) has been named Mars’ GCC Duty Free Retailer of the Year 2007 after posting “exceptionally strong growth” last year. Mars’ sales at ADDF grew by 62% in 2007 with sell out increasing by 43%. Mars represents 30% of ADDF’s confectionery sales.

Mars International Travel Retail global consultant Stuart Bull said: ““Confectionery is a strong category across the whole of the Middle East travel-retail sector but ADDF’s exceptionally strong growth in 2007 has meant that there was only one clear winner for this year’s award.”

ADDF assistant general manager James McLean said that strong promotions and growth driven by the expansion of Etihad Airways had driven the growth in sales.
