Abu Dhabi Duty Free reports 39% sales leap for August

Strong performances from electronics, beauty and gold drive sales for the travel retailer

Year-on-year sales grew by 39% at Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) in August spearheaded by healthy growth in the electronics, beauty and gold categories.

Electronics was up by 50.56%, while the gold and beauty categories increased by 46.57% and 43.14% respectively. ADDF attributed much of its success to the Win Your Dreams promotions, which began in July and will run through Ramadan, and increases in flights and destinations created almost monthly by Eithad.

The Win Your Dreams promotion is a three-tiered spend and win initiative with prizes including a luxury apartment on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, a BMW Z4 and AED100,000 ($27,227) in cash.

Average spend per passenger through Abu Dhabi International airport sustained high-level average of $51 per traveller in August.
