Mexican airport authority reports strong year on year traffic increase

Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) has reported a 16% increase in passenger traffic at its airports in July compared to the same period last year.

Over 1.4m passengers passed through the group's nine Mexican airports in the 31-day period. Over 1m of these were recorded at the popular resort airport of Cancun, an increase of 15.8% from July last year.

ASUR said last month that a growth in international passenger traffic had helped the group achieve a 54.77% year-on-year increase in duty-free revenues for the first half of 2004.
