Duty-free revenue at the company’s airports grew by more than 20% in the period

Airport authority Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) has announced its results for the year ended December 31 2007. Total revenue increased by 19.92% to Ps2.78bn ($257.7m), buoyed by a 32.48% rise in non-aeronautical revenue. Commercial revenue grew by 32.61% to Ps744.4m ($69m) compared with the previous corresponding period. Duty-free revenue increased by 20.71% in 2007, while retail revenue rose by 34.89%.

ASUR said in a statement that the growth in commercial revenue “resulted generally from the rise in passenger traffic and in particular from the opening on May 18 2007 of Cancún airport's new terminal three”, which includes an Aldeasa duty-free shop as well as Sunglass Island, Roger Boots, Pineda Covalin, Cloe and Harley Davidson gift outlets and a Cinco Soles Mexican handicraft shop.

ASUR operates, maintains and develops the airports of Cancún, Merida, Cozumel, Villahermosa, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Huatulco, Tapachula and Minatitlan in the southeast of Mexico.
