Cyprus Airports Duty Free unveils its dedicated malt whisky concept to spectators of the country's first official rugby match
Cyprus Airports Duty Free, the joint venture between Aer Rianta International and Cyprus Trading Corp, has opened dedicated malt whisky stores at Pafos and Larnaca airports. The opening of the stores, called Uisge Beatha, was supported by a promotion at the historic international rugby match between Cyprus and Greece last weekend.
The match was the first international rugby match in Cyprus since the country was admitted to the International Rugby Board in December 2006, with Cyprus eventually beating Greece 39-3. Cyprus Airports Duty Free and William Grant & Sons teamed up to offer spectators a dram of Glenfiddich. Promoters, led by ARI-CTC retail and marketing manager Martin Mullen, also explained the new store concept to fans and showed them a Volvo C30 sports car that can be won at Uisge Beatha stores this month.
CTC-ARI general manager Gerry Crawford also presented match referee Johnny Stavrinou with a personalized bottle of Glenfiddich 21yo in recognition of his first international match. Crawford said: As very keen rugby supporters we were delighted to be able to assist the Cyprus Rugby Federation in their historic first international. It was a memorable occasion and an excellent start to their foray into international rugby. It was also a superb opportunity for us to launch our new Uisge Beatha concept to the public.
During April passengers at Larnaca and Pafos airports who purchase a bottle of Glenfiddich at any Cyprus Airports Duty Free outlet will be entered into a draw to win a black Volvo C30 sports car.
Crawford said the company would release more details on the new whisky store concept later this week.
