ARI to operate Gulf Air contract

25-Oct-2002

Aer Rianta International-Middle East (ARI-ME) is to manage Gulf Air's inflight duty-free contract for the next three years

The operator received a letter of intent from Gulf Air yesterday that confirmed the deal.

The business will be administered through Bahrain Duty Free, in which ARI-ME is a leading shareholder.

"This is a great move for us, as we already operate onboard Qatar Airways and this consolidates our business in the region," ARI-ME managing director John Sutcliffe told TRW.

In related news, ARI-ME is to set up a new company, in partnership with Travellers, part of the Chalhoub Group, to target new inflight retail contracts in the region.

"The company will be set up soon, and with the infrastructure Travellers already has in place, we think there are many opportunities we can target," said Sutcliffe.
