ARI almost doubles profits in 2005

The Dublin Airport Authority subsidiary records €17.4m in profit, contributing strongly to group profitability

Aer Rianta International (ARI) recorded profits of €17.4m ($21.2m) in the year ending December 31 2005, a big increase on the 2004 figure of €9.4m ($11.5m), parent company Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) announced today.

DAA recorded profits of €50m ($61m) for the year, representing an increase of 63% compared with equivalent profits of €31.1m ($37.9m) in 2004. Turnover rose by 13% during 2005 to €525m ($640.2m).

Combined passenger numbers at Dublin, Shannon and Cork Airports increased by 12.4% to 24.5m last year—the highest level of growth since 1996. Passenger numbers at Dublin airport totalled 18.5m, a rise of 8% for the second successive year. Shannon and Cork airports also achieved record passenger volumes, with Shannon's traffic 35% higher at 3.3m. At 2.7m, Cork recorded traffic growth of  21%.
