ARI-Sardana JFK reopens space at former Runway Beauty store
Confectionery and fashion will replace fragrances and cosmetics at ARI-Sardana’s former Runway Beauty store at New York JFK airport terminal four
The former Runway Beauty store at the pre-security area of New York JFK airport terminal four, which closed in January, has partially reopened as a Runway Delight store selling confectionery. The Runway Beauty outlet, which was operated by Aer Rianta International (ARI) Sardana JFK, closed after sales were hit hard by security restrictions on liquids.
The Runway Delight store, which opened three weeks ago, accounts for 50% of the 1,800sq ft (167sq m) outlet and a Runway Fashion outlet will open in the remaining half of the space in the next few weeks. The Runway Delight store offers brands such as Hersheys and M&Ms.
ARI-North America regional manager Americas and the Caribbean Philip Eckles told Ravenfox.com: It [The Runway Beauty store] closed at the beginning of the year after it fell victim to the restrictions imposed by the TSA [Transportation Security Administration] on liquids, gels and foams and it has not performed at a level that we were satisfied with anyway. So the consequences of the August 10 restrictions were the final nail in its coffin.
ARI-Sardana aims to replicate the success of its existing Runway Delight and Runway Fashion shops in the terminal located near the B and A concourses respectively. ARI Sardana JFK operates 12,000sq ft (1,115sq m) of retail space at T4.
