The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association elected its officers at a meeting yesterday, with three vacancies still to be filled

At a meeting during TFWA Asia Pacific yesterday the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association elected its officers. Three vacancies remain to be filled on the 12-strong board, which when complete will comprise three officials each from the retailer, supplier, landlord and "other sectors". APTRA is seeking two further representatives from the landlord sector plus one trade association representative to fill the remaining gaps on the board. APTRA board member and one of the association's main architects Christian Strang told RavenFox.com: "We've had a good response from our public meeting earlier in the week and we now need to fill those remaining  positions. We've been doing the boring bit – statutes, legal framework and so on – now we're looking at the fun bits."

The following officials were elected to the APTRA board yesterday:

President: Rakhita Jayawardena, Centaur Travel Retail

Secretary: John Kammerman, Imperial Tobacco

Treasurer: Joel Lafon, Maxxium Global Travel Retail

Directors:   Paul Topping, Alpha Orient Lanka
Christian Strang, The Nuance Group Asia Pacific
Tom Thomas, The Australian Duty Free Association
Sunil Tuli, King Power Group Hong Kong
                 Barry Kairl, Brisbane airport
Andrew Ford, Tax Free World Association

More details and reaction in the next issue of DFNI, out next week.
