AENA reports busy month at Spanish airports

Strong traffic growth at airports in Madrid and Barcelona have bolstered the Spanish airport authority's October figures
Spanish airport authority AENA has reported solid October traffic, with 15.23m passengers using its network of Spanish airports, up by 9.3% on the same month last year. Traffic for the 10 months to the end of October grew by 7.9% compared with the same period last year, with total numbers reaching 143.26m passengers.
Madrid and Barcelona were the two busiest airports with traffic reaching 3.42m (up 5.6%) and 2.20m (up 4.9%) respectively. Tourist airports also performed strongly with traffic at Palma de Mallorca increasing by 16.4% to 2.04m passengers, resulting from increased flights by low-cost carriers from Germany and the UK. Malaga and Alicante airports also showed strong growth with traffic growing by 6.3% to 1.19m and 6% to 838,058 respectively.
