New terminal will add 2,400sq m (25,833sq ft) to the retailer’s operations at the airport

Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) has announced that its delegation in Cannes will concentrate on discussing the retail space allocation for Abu Dhabi International airport’s new terminal three. Scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2008, T3 will add 2,400sq m (25,833sq ft) to the retailer’s operations at the airport—an increase of 48% on its current total of 5,000sq m (53,819sq ft).

Departing ADDF general manager Niveen Ibrahim, who will lead the delegation, said: “As I have done for many years, I very much look forward to the possibilities offered at Cannes and this year it is crucial that we discuss with key players how we can work together to add value to ADDF’s exciting new retail environment. The key criteria in allocating space to brands in different departments are based on what their total contribution to the business is and their profitability to Abu Dhabi Duty Free.”

Among the concepts to be introduced in T3 are the first cosmetics bar in the Middle East; a dedicated children’s store featuring clothes, toys, jewellery and electronics; and a champagne bar that will also serve gourmet food.

T3 will be exclusive to Etihad Airways, and 6m passengers are expected to pass through the new terminal by the end of 2008.
