ACI chairman to join Middle East conference debate on security
Airports Council International chairman and director general of the Sharjah Airport Authority, Ghanem Al-Hajri, is to give a special address on airport security at the forthcoming Middle East and Africa Duty Free Symposium, to be held in the Jordanian capital Amman in January 2002.
The annual event, now in its eighth year, will be opened by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan-the first time that a head of state has inaugurated a duty-free conference anywhere in the world. "We are truly honoured that His Majesty will join us on this very important occasion," said Aijaz Khan, director of Publishing International, organiser of the event (along with TRW publisher Raven Fox which is involved for the first time in the Symposium).
The symposium, postponed from November, will take place on January 20-22 with a revised programme under the theme "Duty Free & Travel Retailing after September 11: A Global Debate."
"This is the first time since the horrible September attacks that the duty-free industry has an opportunity to come together with the goal of examining and discussing the consequences of these events on our industry," explained Khan.
