ACI North America makes airport marketing awards

Airports Council International -North America (ACI-NA) this week announced the winners of its 2002 Marketing and Communications Awards

Norfolk International airport in Virginia won the top honour in the communications field, the Peggy G Hereford Award for Excellence. The official presentation to the award winners is taking place today at ACI-NA's Annual Conference & Exhibition in Salt Lake City.

ACI-NA senior director public affairs Juliet Wright commented: "Norfolk airport highlighted family themes that had a consistent softness without an edge." Norfolk was also praised for its website www.norfolkairport.com and the graphical elements of its television advertising. San Francisco and Vancouver airports were ranked second and third respectively for the best airport websites. Guam International airport was ranked top for special events and creative innovation in technology.

A total of 64 airports submitted entries in the contest, which recognizes airports' work in marketing and public relations and gives airports the opportunity to be honoured for categories covering the whole range of media.
