Airports Authority of India is to increase the space on offer at Mumbai and Delhi airports when it releases renewed tender documents for additional duty-free areas next month. A source close to the authority told TRW that, while the space has been slightly increased from the 586sq m (6,305sq ft) at Mumbai and 194sq m (2,087sq ft) at Delhi offered in the original tender last year, rental terms will remain roughly similar ($38.72/sq m monthly, subject to 10% annual compound escalation and a ?royalty? of not less than $4,516/sq m per month).
But retailers involved in the initial tender have revealed that the changes are not significant enough to rouse their interest. Space at India's two busiest airports failed to attract bidders when the authority launched tenders for space at ten airports late last year, with the three retailers involved in bids for the eight remaining locations citing unreasonable terms.
